She is a PhD Student in the Physiology and Neuroscience Division, “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, under the supervision of Prof. Leon Zagrean, working on the effects of interferon alpha administration on the behavior in rats. As she had the chance to be involved in two research projects regarding mood disorders running in this department (project CNCSIS 1200/2007 and project Viasan nr. 454/2004), she has worked with rodent models for anxiety and depression and performed electrophysiological recordings in vivo and in vitro.
The anxiety and depression models that she used were: forced swimming test, competition test for food (Malatynska model), elevated plus maze and open field test. The electrophysiological recordings performed include: ECoG, ECG and stereotaxic recordings of neuronal activity in anesthetized rat (single-unit and local field potential), as well as neuronal activity in brain stem slices.
